Recombinant Territories
The project is an itinerant series of discussions focusing works and projects by young artists using electronic and digital media. The project focuses two aspects: 1) education, by discussing young artists’ projects underway and 2) decentralized dissemination of new media knowledge / production covering cities in different regions of Brazil. In this respect, it aims to build networks among professionals and institutions interested in changes prompted by the impact of technology in the contemporary world. The project is produced by the Sergio Motta Institute through its main cultural initiative, the Sergio Motta Art and Technology Award. The project also has a blog which narrates the experiences and the meeting through the country. Recombinant Territories have been happening since 2006 and in 2008 it had its second edition.

International Exibhitions supported by Sergio Motta Institute:
Braaaasiiiil – cinema, video, performance e concerto
The Sergio Motta Art and Technology Award in association with Museo Centro de Arte Reina Sofía present the “Paisagens” video exhibition. In the context of the exhibition “Braaaasiiiil – cinema, video, performance e concerto” 14 Brazilian videos (duration approximately 1 hour) are being shown at the auditorium of Museo Reina Sofía. Daniela Bousso’s curatorial design focuses on several aspects of the production of contemporary art, posing questions on the language issues in Brazilian videography for over a decade, as well as the socio-political aspects of art. The videos reveal singularities of Brazilian reality while raising the metaphor of “location” to a universal condition.
Interconnect@between attention and immersion exhibition
The Sergio Motta Institute has carried out the Interconnect@between attention and immersion exhibition, in partnership with the German KZM art and media centre. The show was part of the official ´Culture Cup´ and has relied on the participation of 12 Brazilian artists, including some Sergio Motta Art and Technology Award winners and guests. The selection of work was carried out by Sergio Motta Award curator, Vitória Daniela Bousso and by ZKM´s director Peter Weibel. The direction of the project was by Bernhard Serexhe, chief curator of the ZKM|Media Museum. The artwork made use of electronic or digital media, including video installations, multimedia installations and net art.
